https://corsiecm-phisiovit.it//event/corso-ecm-cadaver-lab-arto-superiore-e-cingolo-scapolare-dissezione-anatomica-paternostro-2026

The course takes place in a blended format to offer the learner the most profitable educational experience, first in an asynchronous virtual classroom to approach the concepts of prosectorial anatomy, and then in a physical classroom organized by PhisioVit for anatomical dissection and direct palpation of landmarks and structures. The event has limited seating and can host a maximum of forty participants. The teaching is offered in the following ways:

STEP 1: The course begins with an introductory asynchronous distance learning module on shoulder biomechanics, which includes handouts and video lectures. This initial training helps learners become familiar with Prof. Dr. Ferdinando Paternostro and is essential for introducing them to the subject; it remains available to them within their control panel on the learning platform and can be accessed from any device. It can be started, resumed, and paused whenever and as many times as desired, but must be completed before proceeding to STEP 2, described below.

STEP 2: it ends with an in-person day for the cadaver study of the planes and anatomical structures of the Upper Limb and Shoulder Girdle on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with seven and a half actual hours of classroom training net of lunch and coffee breaks.
Program
The entire blended event, titled Upper Limb and Shoulder Girdle: Anatomical Dissection, featuring an on-site day on Sunday, October 4, 2026, is led by Prof. Dr. Ferdinando Paternostro, surgeon, Associate Professor of Human Anatomy, and Managing Editor of the Italian Journal of Anatomy and Embryology. He is a former researcher and Adjunct Professor of Human Anatomy in the Degree Programs in Medicine and Surgery, Physiotherapy, Biotechnology, Nursing, and Medical Radiology Technologists (TSRM). In particular, the schedule for the on-site day is provided below. The teaching staff is complemented by tutoring assistance for learners at the dissection tables provided by the staff of Prof. Dr. Ferdinando Paternostro from the University of Florence, at a ratio of one tutor per ten learners starting from the eleventh participant.

Each practical session will be preceded by brief theoretical sessions that provide an introduction to the practical exercise.

The course includes a mandatory online live briefing on Friday evening, during which the lesson procedures and more will be explained. Saturday's focus will be on anatomical dissection, which will conceptually approach all the structures encountered—from the surface to the depth—including the skin, adipose panniculus, fasciae, muscles, vascular, lymphatic, and nervous structures, down to the viscera and their reciprocity. Sunday, on the other hand, will focus on the in-depth study of physiology, neurophysiology, osteopathic reasoning, and the practice of visceral manual techniques compared with what was learned the previous day. Topographical and palpatoric anatomy will be essential, all supported by concrete evidence.

The focus of Saturday’s day will be the anatomical dissection of facial components: skin, SMAS, mimic musculature, neurological aspects, and vascular component. The Sunday day will take place in the classroom, with an in-depth exploration of manual techniques through the comparison of different approaches. Techniques of vascular release, a comparative analysis of trigger points and energy meridians of MTC, myofascial release techniques, interventions on cranial nerves V, VII, and IX, as well as work on the buccal floor and the ioidea musculature, will be proposed. Throughout the weekend, Dr. Liviero Fabio, a maxillofacial surgeon, will be an integral part of the “Visceral Room” group: on Saturday, he will share the ward table with Prof. Paternostro, while on Sunday he will bring his experience, integrating osteopathic manual techniques with an Eastern-derived energy perspective.
